Many people who have managed to master the art of candle making have turned it into a lucrative business. Decorative and scented candles have always remained in demand and thus if done properly, it can be a wonderful business opportunity. One can pursue it as full time as well as part time hobby.  So, how to make candles in a simple and easy way? Let me guide you through the steps of candle making.

Candle making can be a hassle free process or complicated one depending upon how you pursue the steps. Because if you are willing to make perfect candles out of wax, you should be able to deal with stubborn wax residues. First collect all the materials required for the process. Let me list them;

  • Wax
  • Scissors
  • Standard wick kit
  • Candle wick
  • Mold
  • Scented oil
  • Wooden spoon
  • Colored chips
  • Double boiler
  • Hot plate

Once you have got hold of above mentioned materials, start the process by cutting the big slab of wax into pieces. Use the double boiler for melting these pieces. Keep wax in the top container and water in the bottom one. The fact that wax is an inflammable material, you will be required to be careful while initiating the candle making process. Cover the floors with newspapers so that they don’t get damaged from wax.

Next crucial step is of working on the mold. For better results, choose the metal mold without seams. Wick should be placed in the mold carefully. It should stick out of the top of the mold by 2 centimeter. If you are interested in scent and fragrance, then try to acquire all the information pertaining to right kind of essential oil or fragrance. The fragrance should not have any water content. You can go for eucalyptus oil, pine oil, aloe Vera and olive oil.

Once the wax has been melted, pour it into the mold in a swift movement. Also watch out for air bubbles. Then you need to wait for few hours to get the wax set in the mold. To prevent air bubbles to form inside, try using a needle and poke it in the wax to release the air trapped inside it. Finally, you can take out the candle after five hours or so. Use a hard surface to make the surface of the candle smooth and even. Well, now you are all set to present your beautifully made candles.
